Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday visited different areas of Lahore, including Shimla Pahari, Bohar Wala Chowk, The Mall, Montgomery Road, Lakshmi Chowk and GPO Chowk and inspected the situation arising after the rain. He also gave lift to women and children stuck in rainwater and dropped them to their destinations. During the visit, the chief minister inspected the arrangements made for the disposal of water and also inquired the citizens about it, who complained about the accumulation of water on the roads. The chief minister replied that he had come out to review the problems faced by the people and assured that the administration and WASA officials would complete the disposal of rainwater without any delay. He also directed the administrative officers and WASA officials to early complete the water disposal by using all available resources. He asked them to personally monitor the process of water disposal and directed that they should remain present in the field till the completion of water disposal. He further said that traffic police should efficiently perform to keep the traffic moving during rain. He regretted that claimants of transforming the city of Lahore as ‘Paris’ have made no scheme of water disposal for the city. “Those who evolved white elephant schemes did not ensure the basic job of water disposal,” he added. “Problems of the people will be solved soon as I belong to them and the administration has been activated to early solve them,” he added. CM directs traffic police to work efficiently to keep the traffic moving during rain After visiting different areas of the provincial metropolis, the chief minister went to the office of Punjab Safe City Authority and monitored the rain-related situation through CCTV cameras. He issued necessary instructions saying that he had felt the difficulty of the citizens due to torrential rains.” Our sorrows and pains are collective and I am standing with the citizens in this difficult situation. Water disposal will be ensured at the earliest,” he added. Spokesman to CM Dr Shahbaz Gill accompanied the chief minister during the inspection. Meanwhile, Buzdar said that the elements that mercilessly looted the government exchequer were an enemy of the whole nation, adding that faces of fake claimants of ‘Ameen’ were fully exposed before the 220 million people of Pakistan. Those who have had infringed upon the kitty would have to be answerable for every looted penny, he added. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Buzdar said that past governments economically incapacitated the country with their mega corruption and added that their corruption scandals are coming to light every other day. “In fact, the cruelty meted out with the nation by corrupt elements is unforgivable.” He said it was the first occasion in the national history that indiscriminate action had been taken against the corrupt. He maintained that collusion of the opposition and their uproar would not help those who have filled their pockets of the government money. “Economic chaos was the result of wrong policies of the past rulers and the incumbent government is working on war footing to rectify the past mistakes,” added Buzdar. He further said that loot and plunder were made in the name of development schemes in the past and the whole nation was demanding accountability of the looted resources. “The day of judgment of those who looted the nation in the garb of politics has arrived and they are unnerved that the looted money will have to be returned now. The corrupt are making excuses to avoid accountability,” he added. He said that the nation had also fully realised all those elements that have become rich by playing with the destiny of the nation. The chief minister reiterated that the PTI government would continue its untiring struggle against the corruption and corrupt would not be allowed to hinder the process of national development. “The menace of corruption has weakened the country and Pakistan would have been rich and prospers if the past governments not succumbed to corruption. It is deplorable that the past rulers did nothing for the people and left no stone unturned to devastate the economy. On the other side, the PTI government is acting as the custodian of the national kitty and every penny will be spent on the welfare of the people. The government is working hard; difficulties will soon be off and Pakistan will move towards development and prosperity,” the chief minister concluded.
