Bismah Maroof-led Pakistan women’s cricket team on Wednesday outplayed their Bangladeshi counterparts with a comprehensive nine wickets victory in the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament in Bangkok, Thailand. Made to field first, Pakistan women decimated the Bangladesh batting line-up. Aiman Anwer struck on the 17th ball of the match as opener Nigar Sultana went for a paltry two of 10 balls. The medium-pace bowler registered another scalp on her next ball to reduce Bangladesh to two down for four runs. Pakistan’s One-Day International skipper Sana Mir joined the party later in the innings when she returned the figures of 3/5 in three overs. Mir’s off-break dismissed Rumana Ahmed, Salma Khatun, and Fahima Khatun. The Bangladesh innings saw only two batters enter the double figures before it was wrapped up in 15.3 overs for just 44 runs. Pakistan, in reply, chased down the total with comfort. Opener Javeria Khan scored 26 off 31 balls, the highest score of the match, with four 4s. Her opening partner, Ayesha Zafar, faltered on her fourth delivery – the only casuality of the innings. The Girls in Green chased down the total in 9.5 overs. Pakistan Women will face the hosts in the next game.
