Next time you visit Karachi’s Safari Park, you may be welcomed by a giraffe or hippopotamus. Safari Park Director Kunwar Ayub hinted at the addition of the two animals to the park by the end of this year. He told journalists that work to bring the giraffe-hippo pair to the park has started. The management is taking the private sector on board to make the project feasible by the end of this year, he said. If this plan materialises, it will be the first time a hippo is kept by a park in Sindh’s history and the second time for a giraffe, Kunwar Ayub said, adding that the Karachi Zoo last had a giraffe 40 years ago. Elaborating on the expansion of Safari Park’s development work, Ayub said three projects have been initiated to make the park more beautiful and attractive for visitors.
