Facilities run by Jamat-ud-Dawa and Falah-i-Insaniat have been taken over by the Sindh government in a crackdown after the ban on both the organizations by the Federal government. 56 facilities including schools, seminaries and hospitals are now under the control of Sindh government. The Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Information, Law and Anticorruption, Barrister Murtaza Wahab said “We know that federal government has declared JuD ad FIF as proscribed organizations under Anti-Terrorism Laws.” He further added that public welfare facilities and seminaries in Sindh are now under the supervision of provincial government. Murtaza made it clear to the media that the services at all the schools, seminaries and hospitals will continue for the public. The provincial government would administer these institutions and everyone will be allowed to avail these services. The advisor indicated that 31 schools, 16 seminaries and 9 hospitals belonging to these banned outfits are now under the Provincial government’s control. While telling the details of these institutions, the advisor added, “10 schools, 9 seminaries and 5 hospitals were located in Karachi division; 3 schools and 1 hospital in Hyderabad district; 2 schools and 1 madarsa in Matiari; 1 school in Jamshoro; 3 schools, 1 hospital in Mirpurkhas; 4 schools in Sanghar; 1school in Tando Allahyar; 3 schools and 1 madarsa in Badin; 1 school, 2 hospitals, 1 madarsa in Tharparkar; 1 Madarsa in Noshehro Feroz; 2 schools and 3 seminaries in Shaheed Benazir Abad; and 1 school in Kambar Shahdadkot are taken from JuD and FIF and will be operated by the government.” He clarified that the staff will remain the same whereas there will be some clearance strategy according to the standards of the government. He also shed some light on the members of the provincial, divisional and district committees. The Provincial committee includes the Secretary of Home Department as the chairman, Additional IG Police Special Branch, Special Secretary Education, Special Secretary Health and Chief Administrator Auqaf as its members. Giving further details about the divisional committee for Karachi, Wahab said, “Commissioner Karachi will be the chairman, while Additional IG Police Karachi and divisional heads of education, health and auqaf will act as its members.” Similarly, he said that district committees will be headed by deputy commissioner with members from district heads of education, health and auqaf departments.
