For the love of endless coffee

Published on: February 14, 2019 4:12 AM

Our love for coffee can never end and keeping that in mind Second Cup recently opened its newest outlet at Laliq Chowk, DHA.

The opening was held on Friday.

I headed over to the newly-opened branch and tried a few of its items. Here is what I think.

STRENGTHS — aromatic coffees, decadent molten lava cakes and green lattes are the specialties of Second Cup, without a doubt.

The order was served right on time and presented efficiently.

The Cafe Latte priced at 495 (Large) is aromatic and wakes you up within minutes. The Chicken Club Sandwich is also something that I would highly recommend. It is priced at Rs 550 and is crunchy and fresh.

The Quiche priced at Rs 250 is also a must-try. For desserts, go for their Ice Cream Scoop with Brownie that you can avail for only Rs 95. The premises are cosy and peaceful is the ambiance. The price range is affordable and light on your pocket.

WEAKNESSES — Second Cup needs to work on its sandwiches other than the Chicken Club that I had. Their presentation lacks the appeal and taste is bland.

Tea being the national hot drink of Pakistan needs special attention here. It just didn’t taste like a properly-brewed cup of tea

Another thing that caught our attention was that it being a coffee place, should be rich in all kinds of croissants. Only chocolate croissants were available and not the plain ones. I mean, why? The croissants are priced at Rs 195.

Tea being the national hot drink of Pakistan needs special attention here. It just didn’t taste like a properly-brewed cup of tea.

Second Cup Coffee Co is a Canadian coffee retailer, operating more than 300 cafes across the country.

Its headquarters are in Mississauga, Ontario.

Its stores sell hot and cold beverages, pastries, snacks, pre-packaged food items, hot and cold sandwiches and drinkware including mugs and tumblers. It competes with Starbucks, Tim Hortons and McDonald’s, which also feature espresso-based specialty drinks.

Second Cup has expanded its franchises to the United States, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Angola, Ghana, Lithuania, Romania, Pakistan, United Kingdom, Philippines, Bangladesh and Poland.
