ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s first-ever ice hockey match has been played in Naltar valley at PAF Ski Resort on December 29 (Saturday). The first-ever ice hockey match in Pakistan’s history was played between Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Gilgit-Baltistan Scout teams in Naltar valley. Players from both the teams showed extraordinary skills, but none of the team able to score a goal in the set time. However, the winner of the match was decided through penalty shootouts. PAF won the match with the only goal from Shah Siyar. The history of ice hockey in Gilgit Baltistan region can be related to a local game “Ghatal”, which is also played with two sticks and a ball.
