TIMERGARA: Office bearers of Gadani Ship Breaking Corporation on Saturday distributed compensation cheques worth Rs 18 million among nine victims of Gadani Ship breaking incident from Upper Dir, Lower Dir and Swat that occurred on November 1, 20016 as a result of which a total of 29 laborers had lost their lives. A total of nine laborers from Malakand division had lost their lives as a result of the incident six among them hailing from Toor Mang Dara in Lower Dir, two from Bebaware Upper dir and one from Swat. In this regard a function was held at Khall Lower Dir with member district council Malik Muhammad Zeb in the chair with whome personal efforts compensation for the victim’s family became possible. Office bearers of Gadani Ship breaking Corporation Seith Abdul Ghani, Babo Karim jan, Gul Badshah, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sahibzada Sanaullah, Malik Sher Bahadar, Badshah Muhammad, member tehsil council Khall Malik Aftab Hayat and family members of the victims were present on the occasion. The office bearers of Gadani Ship breaking Corporation distributed cheques each worth Rs 2,000,000 among nine victims of the incident belonging to Upper and Lower Dir, out of which Rs 1,500,000 provided by the Gadani Ship breaking Corporation while Rs 500,000 from the government of Baluchistan. While speaking on the occasion officer bearers of Gadani Ship breaking Corporation said advanced means had been provided to the laborers working in ship yard but sometimes they don’t follow the safety measures which results in losses to human lives. Speaking on the occasion Malik Muhammad Zeb Khan who personally visited Karachi and bring with him the office bearers of Gadani Ship breaking lauded the government of Balochistan for compensating the victims and deplored the attitude of federal government which he said had totally ignored the victims’ families. He asked the central government to immediately announce compensation for the victims of Hub Gadani incident otherwise he warned the people of Malakand division would take to the streets against the central government’s apathy.
