The greenback closed firm in value against the rupee in the interbank and shed value in open market, treasurers and currency dealers said. It started day’s trading at Rs 138.50 for buying and closed at Rs 139 for buying and Rs 139.20 for selling in interbank. It gained 50 paisas. The euro witnessed dull trend against rupee as it closed at Rs 156.87 for buying and closed at Rs 157.07 for selling. It lost 54 paisas. The pound sterling remained depressed against domestic currency as it closed at Rs 173.89 for buying and Rs 174.09 for selling. It lost 32 paisas. Open market: The dollar remained depressed against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 139.20 for buying and closed at Rs 139 for buying after 20 paisas downward variation in value and stood at Rs 139.20 for selling. The euro remained dull versus the rupee as it started day’s trading at Rs 156.50 for buying and with Re 1 change in value it closed at Rs 156.50 for buying and at Rs 156.70 for selling. The pound remained dull against rupee as it started day’s trading at Rs 174 for buying, closed dull by Re 1 in value for buying and closed at Rs 173.20 for selling.
