Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC), in its general body meeting, welcomed the proposed visit of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to Tharparkar. During the meeting PHC president Gopal Khamuani regretted the rise in number of forced conversions. He said that such incidents were spreading fear amongst the patriotic Hindu community. Dr Ramesh Vankwani informed the meeting that the Hindu Marriage Act had been successfully passed in the Parliament. “Now, it is time to boost our struggle for the implementation of this Act,” he said. The issue of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETBP) also came under discussion. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, in his address, said that there were as many as 1122 Hindu temples, 527 Gurdwaras and other religious places which come under the board. The participants, in a resolution, demanded to appoint ETPB chairman from the Hindu community. They also urged the Bait-ul-Maal was to continue healthcare support to deserving poor Hindu patients from the Zakat donations. The meeting participants also finalised the arrangements for upcoming combined Hindu marriages ceremony, to be scheduled on January 6 in Karachi. It was decided that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, Chief of Army Staff (COAS)QamarJaved Bajwa, and CJPSaqibNisar as well as other dignitaries would be invited to grace the ceremony. The meeting was attended by Patron-in-chief Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, President Gopal Khamuani, Vice President Raja Bhawan Lohana and other representatives across the country.
