Human Rights & Minorities Affairs Minister Aijaz Alam said on Monday that for the protection of human rights, an action plan has been drafted to actualise the goals of Punjab Human Rights Policy, 2018 by Provincial Task Force on Human Rights. He said that establishment of district committees for human rights have been approved by the cabinet committee on legislative business. The provincial minister stated this while addressing a special ceremony organised by the human resource and minorities affairs department in collaboration with Christian Care Foundation at Alhamra Arts Council to mark the International Human Rights Day. During the ceremony, children from Search & Justice presented a special drama on violation of human rights and a beautiful solo performance by Unique Schools was also part of the ceremony. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf parliamentarians including Mahendra Pal Singh, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Sumera Ahmed Bukhari, Asma Bukhari, Sadia Sohail Rana, socialist Mahnaz Rafi, Sumera Batool, Human Rights & Minorities Affairs Secrerary Asim Iqbal, Pastor Anwar Fazal, Barrister Saeed Nasir, Garrison College Vice Chancellor Ubaid Bin Zakaria, Human Right Regional Director Lubna Mansoor, human rights officers, students from various educational institutions and representatives of minorities participated in the ceremony. Muhammad Yousaf from the human rights and minorities affairs department welcomed all the participants, saying that the day is unique because people from every segment are gathered here to promote peace and brotherhood. Secretary Asim Iqbal highlighted department progress regarding 100 days plan. All the parliamentarians acknowledged the efforts of Human Rights Ministry and assured public to perform their positive role for better legislation and fully implementation for the protection of human rights. Regional Director Lubna Mansoor said that the federal government will fully cooperate with Punjab government to ensure the protection of human rights in Punjab.
