Technical, vocational education top priority of govt: Aslam Iqbal

Punjab Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that technical and vocational education is top priority of the government.

He was addressing the prize distribution ceremony at Techinical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) at TEVTA Secretariat on Wednesday.

TEVTA Chief Operating Officer (COO) Akhtar Abbas Bharwana was also present on occasion.

Aslam Iqbal said that providing jobs to 10 million people is the target of Paksitan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) government. “I am hopeful that TEVTA will play its part in this regard.”

He added, “We should provide quality education to students to meet international standards.” He also stressed the need to improve enrolment of women in technical and vocational education. “In future such policies will be implemented which will enhance women enrollment,” he vowed.

TEVTA Chairperson and Industries Secretary Nadeemur Rahman said that competition of skills and cash prizes always increase student’s morale. He said that TEVTA will play its role in implementation of vision of the Punjab government.

COO Akhtar Abbas Bharwana that TEVTA had iniitated programs as per priorities of the Punjab government. Bharwana was of the view that TEVTA was also ready to provide skilled labour force for Naya Pakistan Housing Project.

Earlier, Minister Industries Aslam Iqbal also visited stalls setup by students in which different projects were exhibited by students. He also inaugurated job placement centre initiated by GIZ.
