DG ISPR condemns SP Tahir Dawar’s brutal murder in Afghanistan

Published on: November 15, 2018 6:44 PM

RAWALPINDI: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday has condemned the brutal murder of late SP Tahir Dawar in Afghanistan.

In a tweet the Director General ISPR said “We have lost a brave police officer. His abduction, move to Afghanistan, murder and follow up behavior of Afghan authorities raises questions, which indicate involvement or resources more than a terrorist organization in Afghanistan.”

Brutal murder of SP Tahir in Afg is highly condemnable. We have lost a brave police officer. His abduction, move to Afg, murder and follow up behaviour of Afg authorities raise questions which indicate involvement or resources more than a terrorist organisation in Afg. (1of2).

The DG ISPR said that Afghan security forces should cooperate in border fencing as Pakistani authorities are investigating SP Dawar’s murder.

“While investigations by Pakistani authorities are in process, we reiterate that Afghan security forces to cooperate in border fencing and bilateral border security coordination to deny use of Afghan territory against Pakistan,” he continued.

Earlier today, Afghan officials handed over the body of Superintendent Police (SP) Tahir Dawar to Pakistani officials. The body was received at the Torkham border from Afghan officials by tribal leaders and MNA Mohsin Dawar.

At first Afghan officials, refused to hand over SP Dawar’s body to their Pakistani counterparts, saying they would only hand over his body to MNA Mohsin Dawar or tribal representatives.

SP Tahir Dawar, who went missing from Islamabad on October 27, was found dead in Nangarhar earlier this week. His martyrdom was confirmed by the Afghan government.

Pakistan earlier lodged a protest with Afghanistan over the delay in handing over SP Dawar’s body.

SP Dawar had gone missing from Islamabad on October 27 and his body was found from Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on November 13.
