Students gathered in Islamabad on Sunday to discuss patriotism, volunteerism and leadership leading to social change in society. Youth Insight, which organized the event, is an Islamabad-based student organization that is working for the promotion and betterment of youth. ‘Meet the Seniors’ is one of the main events of the Youth Insight arranged annually. This year, it was arranged especifically targeting the intermediate students. “Parents and students are our main target so that they make themselves comfortable with the choice of field they want to pursue for themselves after the intermediate studies,” the organizer of the event said. The students had a chance to get to know about various universities and their students before getting admission into any one of them. The event arranged at Aiwan-e-Quaid, F-9 Park, started with opening remarks by Khalid Rehman, the director general of the Institute of Policy Studies, followed by a panel discussion by guests, who were also graduates from prestigious universities of the country. After the panel discussion, a symposium for the parents and an open house started simultaneously. Yousaf Almas conducted the parents symposium, wherein he talked with parents along with other panel members who answered the queries. Information desks of various universities were placed at the open house. The desks covered almost every major university of Pakistan, thirty-five in number. Seniors were present on every desk providing sufficient information and guidelines about their respective universities. Food stalls and refreshments were also arranged for the guests. A massive response was observed from all the attendees. Every major academy and intermediate college was invited to the event. A huge number of students turned out to attend the counselling and mentorship session. Published in Daily Times, November 12th 2018.
