ISLAMABAD: The attention in the golf circles of Islamabad focuses on the 1st Fiqa Women’s Golf Championship which commenced at the Islamabad Club Golf Course here yesterday. This is an exclusive event for women, and women from Lahore, Rawalpindi an Islamabad are participating in it for top honours. First event, which falls in the gold category, was held on Friday and the leader at the end of 18 holes was Rimsha Ijaz of Defence Raya Golf Club with a gross score of 77. Also at the same score was the highly talented Aania Farooq who was tied with Rimsha Ijaz at gross 77. Other who performed well were Zaib un Nisa of Royal Palm Golf Club. She was steady during the 18 holes and her score was gross 80 followed by Parkaha Ijaz the superb one who ended the day at gross 82. Arooba Ali was at gross 89 and Tahira Nazir at gross 91. Over the next two days some lively golfing competition is expected in this exclusive women’s championship managed by Asma Shami of the Pakistan Golf Federation.
