The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) stopped Dow International Dental College (DIDC) and Dr Ishratul Ebad Institute of Oral Health Sciences from offering admission in their dental study programmes for the academic year of 2018-19. Dr Saeed Qureshi who is the vice chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences said that the PMDC came to examine both colleges which according to the PMDC were not up to the mark. Dr Qureshi announced that the admission intake for the session of 2018-19 was subject to the permission of PMDC. Reportedly, 100 seats for BDS in Dow and 50 seats for the discipline in the Ishratul Ebad institute (IEI) were sealed till the inspection of PMDC. According to the Dow university spokesperson, Dow’s dental college and the IEI had been associated with the university since 2012. Meanwhile, 400 students who have already completed for their BDS are now waiting for their PMDC registration. The students cannot work in Pakistan without the said registration.
