Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman called on National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser at Parliament House on Wednesday. Matters pertaining to law and order situation in KP and the overall political and economic situations in the country were discussed in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the NA speaker congratulated KP Governor Shah Farman on assuming the portfolio of governor. He said that appointment of Shah Farman is a good omen for progress and development of the province. He expressed the hope that under his sagacious leadership, the province would head towards the path of progress and prosperity. He said that progress and prosperity of the country depends upon cordial relations between the federation and the provinces. He urged the need for promotion of harmony between the federation and provinces to confront challenges faced by the country at present. He said that the country is passing through a critical time and we have to work together to get the country out of these difficult situations. The governor thanked the speaker for his kind remarks and briefed him about the ongoing development projects and security situation in the province. He said that development of the province, solving the problems faced by the people of the province and cordial relations between the federation and province was his foremost priority. He said that the provincial government is taking steps on priority basis for progress and development and maintenance of law and order situation in the province. Earlier, NA former speaker Syed Fakhar Imam met Asad Qaiser. Matters related to overall political situation in the country and mutual interests were discussed in the meeting. The speaker said that stability of democratic institutions was inevitable for economic stability and progress of the country. He said that all political parties present in the parliament have to play their role for strengthening the democratic institutions and to cope with the challenges being confronted by the country. “You are a senior and seasoned member of this House and your presence in the House is a fortune for its members,” he added. He said that senior members should play their due role for enhancing the sanctity of the House and to keep the environment of the House peaceful. Syed Fakhar Imam said that the role of opposition in the House is very important to keep the environment of it peaceful and for the security and economic stability, it is imperative to take all political parties on board.
