Malaysia has recorded 34,773 tourists from Pakistan during January to June 2018, depicting a growth of 29.4 percent as compared to the preceding period. This was stated by Malaysian Consul General KhairulNazranAbdur Rahman during his visit to Tourism Malaysia stall at Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) 2018. The Malaysian envoy said that he hoped to increase the number of Pakistani tourists to Malaysia. He said that the ‘Tourism Malaysia’ had yet another year of successful participation in PTM 2018. He said that this year, Tourism Malaysia was joined by 23 Malaysian organisations as well as Malaysian cultural performers. During the PTM, the performers highlighted the rich culture of Malaysia by performing various Malaysian dances at the Malaysian booth as well as at the main stage. The Malaysian Consul General said that the objective of the participation in PTM 2018 was to spread awareness amongst Pakistani tourists and travel agents regarding the exciting potential of Malaysia as a preferred travel destination in Asia. He said that the Malaysian delegation participated in the PTM event to renew Malaysia’s commitment and support for the Pakistani travel industry, to keep the Pakistani counterparts abreast of recent tourism developments in Malaysia and to establish a wider network of contacts in the Pakistani tourism industry. During PTM 2018, Tourism Melaka also launched the “Visit MelakaYear 2019” to highlight the latest attractions that they had to offer to the Pakistani tourists. The campaign is set to make historical Melakaa lucrative tourist destination. It is aimed at encouraging tourists from Pakistan to visit Melaka. In addition, new attractions are also being launched to provide tourists with means of entertainment such as the world-class immersive theatre performance on a 360 degree rotating audience platform.
