LARKANA: The Sindh Peoples Students Federation (SPSF) on Sunday carried out a massive rally starting from the Kennedy Market and culminating in front of the Larkana press club against alleged corrupt practices by the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Ali Gohar Dahri. Reportedly, the SPSF representatives including Hazoor Bux Khaskheli, Mazhar Shahani, Imran Shaikh, Hassan Langah, Amir Abro, Habib Gopang and others alleged that instead of bringing reforms Dr Dahri has been committing corruption which was evident from the fact that even Finis and Phenyl were not available in the hospital, and heaps of garbage could be observed in its premises. They further alleged that even MRI and CT scan machines were dysfunctional for a long time, and poor patients were forced to get such vital diagnostic facilities from private medical centers with expensive costs. They claimed that the blood bank of the hospital has been handed over to a private company namely Bukhari Blood Bank which has been generating huge profits. They appealed to the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho to take notice of such issues, and take a stern action against MS on the priority basis. Meanwhile, Dr Dahri refuted such allegations against him and said that Khaskheli and Shahani used to bring a long list of medicines on a daily basis which he used to approve, but when he came to know that they were getting money instead of medicines from a medical store, he refused to approve medicines for them. He said that the Local Purchase (LP) budget has been allocated for indoor patients and not for extortionists. He said that some unscrupulous persons have been bringing fake outpatient department (OPD) slips for taking medicines from the LP and Zakat budget, and such practices should be stopped as both provisions were for destitute ailing patients. Protest against mismanagement in Education Dept in Larkana The Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Naundero, subject specialist Farooq Nawaz Unar on Sunday protested in front of the Larkana press club over massive mismanagement in the Education Department. Reportedly, he told the media that many higher secondary schools were on verge of destruction. He asserted that 25 subject specialists were appointed for over 600 students of the Pilot Secondary School, the Shaikh Zayed Colony School and the Municipal School of Larkana, whereas only 10 subject specialists were appointed for over 3,000 students in rural region including Bakrani, Dokri, Naundero, Areeja and Dhamrah towns of Larkana district. He alleged that Sindh Professors and Subject Specialists leader Zahid Hussain Hulio has been living in Karachi and not performing his duty properly. He further alleged that another subject specialist Abid Hussain Shahani has been signing his attendance but not teaching students. He revealed that four subject specialists for only English have been appointed in the Pilot School in Larkana, which was against Student Teacher Ratio (STR) policy. He said that only 40 students were enrolled in the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Naundero, but eight subject specialists were appointed in violation of good governance. In Bakrani more than 1,500 students are enrolled but only four subject specialists have been appointed. He appealed to the Sindh Education Minister to appoint subject specialists according to the policy of the Education Department and ensure prevention of favoritism for maintaining merit and good governance in the education system.
