ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has decided to ban an advertisement for an ice cream brand for being “indecent and objectionable”. “It has been observed that some satellite television channels had been showing Igloo ice cream advertisement which carried objectionable and indecent content beyond acceptable standards of ethics in clear violation of many clauses of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 (Amendment Act 2007),” a press release issued on Friday said. The ban on the said advertisement will be effective from July 8, from 4.00 pm. Strict action will be taken against the channels violating that ban under PEMRA Act clauses 29 and 30, the statement said. Published in Daily Times, July 8th , 2017.
