Sir: Even though Pakistan has a wide range of paramount challenges, the brain drain is tantamount to all other giant challenges that the country has to tackle at the moment. Once, the country was rich, having considerable experts and efficient people to mend social, political and economic malaises. But now it has been experiencing severe famine of such people for a very long time because those people have migrated to countries abroad due to lack of appropriate employment opportunities in the country. All other issues — deplorable energy crisis, shambolic economy and chaotic social conditions etc — are connected with the issue of brain drain as the country has dearth of expertise in several important fields of study. The sitting government ought to ponder on the severity of the issue seriously and should take some tangible steps to attract many of those who left the country back, so that they can make a positive contribution to Pakistan’s future development. When the country will have the right men for the right jobs, then all its other issues will automatically be resolved. ALI HASSAN Mandi Bhauddin Published in Daily Times, September 13th 2018.
