Veehar SHO, Mumtaz Ali Siyal said that no repair or renovation work of police station building was made in the last 40 years due to which it has become useless for police to stay there anymore.Police sources further said that the cops posted at these police stations are less than the required number and they were deployed for the security of influential people. Due to the shortage of police force, sources further added, many police pickets have also been removed. Mohenjo Daro police station is facing shortage of 35 constables, Seehar police station is short of 5 ASIs and 47 constables, 4 ASIs are needed at Fatehpur police station along with 15 constables and Veehar police station badly needs two ASIs and ten cops.Due to these issues, the law and order situation in the area is unsatisfactory as robberies and bike snatching is rampant along with other social evils like running of gambling and drugs dens. The SHOs of these police stations, while talking to the media on Friday, said that they are facing shortage of sanctioned staff and if they are provided with the sanctioned staff, crime rate in the area will be curbed.
