SANGHAR: The 72nd independence day of Pakistan was celebrated in Sanghar with great zeal. Main event was held at Police Line Sanghar in which flag was hoisted by Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Liaquat Ali Bhatti and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanghar Peer Muhammad Shah. To commemorate the special day, the government offices and buildings were lit up and decorated with national flags and buntings. The day dawned with special prayers for progress and prosperity of the country in the mosques of Sanghar. Siren was also blown at 8:58 a.m in the morning, and one minute silence was observed, to pay tributes to the martyrs of armed forces and law enforcement agencies for their sacrifices to the country. March-past was also conducted by police and boys Scouts. The event was attended by large number of dignitaries, locals and students. During the event school children performed various tableaus and received applause from the audience. DC Sanghar and SSP Sanghar along with other officers and school children also planted saplings in the Police Line ground. Published in Daily Times, August 15th 2018.
