A play based on patriotism, titled ‘Hum sab ka Pakistan’ was presented by the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Sunday to mark the Independence Day. The play was written by Basharat Jafferi and directed by Amin Shahzada. The cast of the play includes Rana Kashif, Imran Rushdi, Shahzad Mughal, Faqeer Hussain, Waheed Minhas, Shahid Kodu, Rizwana Khan, Noor Ali, Arshad Khan and Amin Shahzada. The play’s plot revolved around the current political situation. A tribute was also paid to the armed forces for their matchless services for the country at the occasion. Separately, the RAC launched an exhibition of rare photographs based on the Pakistan Movement on Saturday. Assistant Commissioner (Saddar) Umer Sherazi accompanied by RAC director Naheed Manzoor inaugurated the exhibition. The exhibition contains more than 100 photographs from 1857 to 1948 that have been put on display at the RAC Art Gallery until 14th August. Addressing the occasion, Sherazi said that Pakistan was the result of our ancestors’ sacrifices and the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that every Pakistan should think of Pakistan first and participate in its progress and prosperity. Manzoor said that after seeing these rare photographs people will realise that the separate and independent state of Pakistan was achieved after a great struggle. Meanwhile, the RAC also arranged a musical night on Friday night. Famous singers Raj Marwat, Khawaja Naseer, Mohsin Pasha, Khurram Zeeshan, Azhar Awan, Shafq Band and others enthralled the large number of audience who thronged arts council’s auditorium to celebrate Independence Day. Famous artist Masood Khawaja and Noor Ali anchored the music concert. Besides music, senior artists Yar Muhammad, Waheed Minhas, Sapna Shah and Naeem Bubba presented skits.
