RAWALPINDI: Riaz Ahmed – a resident of Gulzar-e-Quaid, Rawalpindi has accused his own wife and daughter of theft and fraud and has also lodged a report with the local police. According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Airport Police Station, Riaz Ahmed alleged that his wife Fauzia Nasreen – who left her home due to domestic grievances – along with her daughter Maryam Riaz and brothers had stolen 45 tola gold along with pounds and dollars’ worth Rs 75,000 and some important documents. Fauzia Nasreen is a government servant while her daughter is a student at a private university. “I have submitted my application for the registration of FIR on March 19, 2018 soon after the incident but the police officers have delayed the FIR registration. I have also sent many officials to Fauzia Nasreen and her brothers but they didn’t meet them,” Riaz Ahmed said, while talking exclusively to Daily Times. Nasreen who is accused in the FIR said, “Riaz Ahmed often use to resort to violence on me and my daughter. Four months ago, Ahmed beat me and asked me to leave the house. Maryam also left with me. We spent the night at a bus stop and later got a flat to live in. We waited for many days for someone to intervene and tell him to take us back but when nothing of that sort happened, I filed a case in the court to get a divorce. Ahmed has registered a fake FIR against me, my daughter and my brothers to pressurise us to withdraw the case. His second wife Yasmin Fatima is living in a separate house. The allegations raised in the FIR are baseless and I have availed bail before arrest from the court in this case.” “I left home with my mother at my own free well. No one has pressurised me. We are frustrated because of the misbehaviour of my father,” Maryam said also while talking exclusively to Daily Times. “I received the application from Ahmed more than two months ago. I have cancelled my plan of registering an FIR and tried to amicably resolve the issue. However, after several summons – Nasreen did not attend the investigation process. Consequently, I registered the FIR,” Investigation Officer Sharif informed Daily Times. According to sources, the police had arrested Nasreen’s brother in law Abdul Jabbar from Lahore. Threatening phone calls were also placed to Nasreen’s brothers, telling them that if she did not show up before the investigation officer, the police will claim recovery of the “stolen” items from her. However, Sharif denied the allegations and said that Abdul Jabbar was arrested from Rawalpindi and is conditionally released now. “I’m not aware of the phone calls,” he said.
