Naundero plunges into darkness as power outages continue

Published on: August 9, 2018 8:07 PM

NAUNDERO: Unscheduled electricity load-shedding of up to 16 hours has hit hard the consumers in Naundero.

Reportedly, the owners and employees of furniture, mechanics, and tailoring outlets claimed that they had been paying millions of rupees to the Sukkur Electric Power Supply Company (SEPCO) and the government in the form of taxes, but they were being deprived of basic necessities of life.

Several Pole Mounted Transformers (PMTs) were not being repaired or replaced by the authorities, instead citizens were being asked to pay the repairing cost.

It must be remembered here that four female students fainted in Government Girls Higher Secondary School few days ago due to sizzling heat.

In this connection, a delegation of Shahehri Action Committee (SAC) members led by Ghulam Hyder Narejo, Jawed Bhutto and others held a meeting with SEPCO SDO  Naundero Sajad Memon.

The delegation was told in the meeting that the Lodhran grid station experienced a major fault resulting in excessive load-shedding in Larkana and Shikarpur districts since last ten days.

Memon said as soon as Lodhran grid station repair work is completed the load-shedding will be reduced to ten hours a day.

However, the SAC leaders rejecting Memon’s justification asked him to improve electricity supply forthwith and stop sending illegal detection bills to the lawful consumers.

They also announced a complete shutter down in the town on August 12.

Meanwhile, a PPP delegations comprising Municipal Committee Chairman Allah Dino Bhutto accompanied by PPP City President Syed Arshad Shah Rashdi and others also had a meeting with the the SDO and discussed the menace of extra power cuts in this scorching heat and sending extra detection bills to the residents.

SDO Memon assured them that the load-shedding will be reduced and no detection bills will be issued to the consumers once the fault gets fixed.
