ISLAMABAD: A Senate committee has begun an inquiry on the allegations of rigging orchestrated in the elections and the controversial failure of the RTS system. The meeting was chaired by Senator Rehman Malik and it and the home secretaries present were also told to begin inquiries on the stamped ballot papers found in the garbage post elections. Rehman Malik said that the speaker of the new National Assembly will formally announce the parliamentary committee. He also said that NADRA will give a briefing to the committee regarding the failure of the RTS system on 20th August. The Election Commission officials present at the meeting informed the committee that the RTS system was made for Returning Officers (RO) to facilitate them in updating the results, while the Result Management System (RMS) in the offices of the ROs sent the results to the ECP. Interim Interior Minister Azam Khan said that his department collaborate with ECP fully and he personally monitored the security management on polling day.
