ISLAMABAD: Financial embezzlement and appropriation worth millions of rupees has been reported in CDA’s MDA department as officials are allegedly involved in awarding contracts to blue-eyed persons in flower markets, giving fake letters of establishing kiosks at green belts and embezzlement in billboard rents. According to details, misappropriation worth millions was also reported in payments of billboards and banners. It was revealed that temporary kiosks were doing business at green belts without any fear. The MDA department has given permission to blue-eyed persons for establishing flower markets in the capital’s posh sectors like F-6 and F-7 and officials get a heavy amount from shopkeepers every month. The FIA has started investigation against alleged embezzlement in MDA department. The investigation department has written a letter to CDA and asked as to under which law they gave permission for establishing kiosks at green belts. After this letter, the CDA established an investigative committee which revealed that 249 kiosks were established at green belts. The department took action and demolished 200 kiosks. The monthly rent of billboards was in millions of rupees but the officials grabbed heavy amount in connivance with market owners. When contacted, CDA spokesperson Mazhar Hussain said that action against kiosks is CDA security department’s responsibility.
