BERLIN: On Friday at the Berlin Film Festival, as the final installment in the Wolverine franchise premiered, Hugh Jackman admitted that he shed a few tears in saying goodbye to the role. Jackman, 48, has been portraying the iconic character of Wolverine in the X-Men films and the eponymous spin-offs for the last 17 years. The Australian star also praised the story of his final turn as the fan-favourite character. “Let’s be clear — I’m not retiring,” Jackman said. Yet for as many times as he has played the character, in the “X-Men” series and solo “Wolverine” movies, he said, “There’s been a gnawing turmoil that I hadn’t really nailed it, fully, either story or performance or whatever.” The actor added, “I can’t say I’ll miss him because it’s difficult to describe, it’s not going anywhere for me. It will always live here. The fans will remind me every single day of my life whether we got it right or wrong.”
