VENEZUELA: Her death was confirmed by Diego Arroyo Gil , author of the book ‘The Lady Imber’, which was published last year by Editorial Planeta.
“With the soul in pieces I communicate this news: Sofia Imber just died,” said the grieving author.
Sofia Imber was one of the most important promoters of Venezuelan art.
She was born in 1924 in Soroca, Moldova and moved to Venezuela with her family in 1930, where she founded the Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas in August 1973.
And with the assistance of the intellectual Carlos Rangel realized a morning show, broadcasted by Venevisión. she then produced and directed the program Solo con Sofia and a radio show titled La Venezuela.
The journalist had worked in newspapers such as El Nacional, El Universal, Últimas Noticias and Diario 2001.
Among her many awards is the National Journalism Prize, the National Prize for Plastic Arts, the Liberating Order and the Picasso Medal.
On February 21 the Simón Bolívar University was going to confer Imber with a Doctorate Honoris Causa.
