Sir: Imran Khan finally won. Years of toil, and highs and lows, and he finally made it to the biggest seat in all the land. Congratulations to him, the PTI and all their supporters. You guys did it. You guys showed it to the status quo, the Sharifs and the Bhuttos. You truly brought about the ‘Naya Pakistan’ promised over all these years. In past years the people of Pakistan had to watch the supporters of other parties blocking off roads, burning effigies, blaring loud music in the early hours of the day, and judging everybody who voted against them after their parties won the elections. This time it was refreshing to see the supporters of the winning party not involve themselves in such shenanigans. Instead, we saw people from various parties torturing innocent animals in the name of politics. These people did not resort to traditional, old fashioned hooliganism. No, they instead decided to beat a poor donkey to death, all for their own warped sensibilities. Later, the same atrocity was repeated with another party. Not to be left out, soon enough some political workers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wrapped up a terrified dog in a PTI flag and shot it dead. All of this truly made me hopeful for the future. If this is how politics are conducted in this country, then what could we possible have to worry about? Perhaps we should award such people political medals!
