RAWALPINDI: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized 812 kilogrammes of narcotics valuing Rs 1.665 billion internationally and arrested 25 criminals including a woman involved in drug trafficking. The ANF impounded 10 vehicles while conducting 23 counter-narcotics strikes across the country. According to the statement issued on Tuesday, the seized drugs comprised of 610kg prohibited chemical, 132kg opium, 50kg hashish, 14kg heroin and 4.2kg amphetamine. Most of the recovered drugs were intended to be smuggled abroad. As per initial information, the drugs were intended to be handed over to another narcotics gang. The accused escaped from the spot taking advantage of the night. ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Safari Motorcycle without a number plate at Grand Trunk Road, Mian Ji Hotel near Abbotabab Mor, Tehsil Hassan Abdal, District Attock and recovered 1.2kg hashish from personal possession of the accused identified as Sheikh Jamshed, resident of Rawalpindi. In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 500 grammes of hashish from personal possession of the accused identified as Nadeem Masih resident of Attock near Ghora Qabristan, Fateh Jang Chowk, District, Attock. In a third operation, the ANF Rawalpindi recovered 400 grammes hashish from personal possession of the accused namely Zohaib resident of Gujrat. In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi in collaboration with Airports Security Force arrested Muhammad Imran, a resident of Sheikhupura from the New International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 2.330kg amphetamine which was concealed in his travelling bag. The accused was travelling to Saudi Arabia. In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Primeus Car at Tarnol Railway Crossing, GT Road, Islamabad and recovered 5kg hashish which was concealed in the trunk of the car. A person on board identified as Tahir Alam Khan, resident of Rawalpindi was also apprehended during the operation. Separately, ANF Rawalpindi arrested Nasir Ali, a resident of Faisalabad at New International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 980 grammes amphetamine which was concealed in his travelling bag. The accused was travelling to Saudi Arabia. ANF Rawalpindi also arrested Saeed Wali Shah, a resident of Nowshera from the New International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 605 grammes amphetamine which was concealed in his travelling bag. The accused was traveling to Saudi Arabia via Oman Air. ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Cultus Car near Motorway Toll Plaza, Kala Shah Kaku, Sheikhupura and recovered 4.8kg hashish from his personal possession and secret cavities of the car. A person on board namely Shah Khalid Khan, a resident of Peshawar was apprehended during the operation. In another operation, ANF Lahore arrested Muhammad Arshad, a resident of Bahawalpur at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 560 grammes heroin which was concealed in his shoes. He was travelling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by Malindo Air. ANF Lahore in collaboration with two Wing Punjab Rangers intercepted 2x Motorcycles Honda CG-125 and recovered 2.5kg heroin from the personal possession of the accused namely Muhammad Khalid, a resident of Kasur. The police also recovered 900 grams amphetamine from the personal possession of 2x accused identified as Najib Rahman, a resident of Orakzai Agency and Faqir Taj, a resident of Mohmand Agency. They were arrested near Daewoo Terminal, Khanewal Road, Multan. ANF Lahore also recovered 1.480kg heroin from 3x parcels being sent to Canada through Courier Service, Cargo Complex Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. The parcel was booked from a courier service, Sialkot and the heroin was concealed in 74x pairs of gloves. Published in Daily Times, July 18th 2018.
