Agani community abandons PPP, joins PTI ahead of elections

Published on: July 15, 2018 2:29 AM

NAUNDERO: The Agani community on Saturday parted ways with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during a corner meeting held in Agani village.

“I hereby announce to leave PPP along with my community and join PTI,” the head of Agani community Rais Hazar Khan Agani said while criticising PPP, and calling it ‘a party of flatterers and selfish people’. “Its slogan of ‘Takat Ka Sarchashma Awam’ had died since the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto,” he said adding that the party did not initiate any development work in the entire district of Larkana since 2013.

The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) candidate for NA-200 Rashid Mahmood Soomro and the PTI candidate for provincial assembly seat PS-10 Ameer Bakhsh Bhutto also addressed the corner meeting as a part of election campaign.

The candidates asserted that the infrastructure of Larkana including roads, drainage system, institutes of education and healthcare units has been in a state of destitution during PPP’s tenure of five years in centre and ten years in Sindh province respectively. “PPP replaced Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s slogan ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makan’ with ‘corruption, corruption and corruption’,” Agani said while maintaining that PPP had lost its political structure since Asif Ali Zardari occupied the party.

“During the general elections of 2013, PPP secured 3 million votes, whereas the opponent parties got 3.6 million votes,” Rashid Soomro said adding that the people of Sindh have got awareness while the anti-PPP forces have gathered on the platform of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) to defeat PPP. Moreover, Ameer Bakhsh said that he considered no appropriate reason to delay the general elections. He asserted that GDA candidates were being appreciated, whereas their opponents were being refuted by the general public.
