British authorities arrest Nawaz’s grandsons

Published on: July 13, 2018 9:59 AM

LONDON: British authorities arrested two grandsons of Nawaz Sharif on Thursday over a brawl that had broken out outside Avenfield House.

An argument between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) opponents and Junaid Safdar, the son of Maryam Nawaz alongside Hussain Nawaz’s son Zakariya, swiftly broke into a scuffle

Authorities confirmed that detained the junior Safdar for punching a young man and confirmed that Zakariya had also been arrested.

Maryam Nawaz’s son claimed that the protesters, who have been camping outside the Avenfield House, tried to attack him and threw an umbrella as well.

Later, Maryam Nawaz in a tweet said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers stationed outside London flat, shouted every time they saw Junaid. She further added that anyone would have reacted to that.

In a video, one protester can be seen trying to attack the two young Sharifs, with Junaid saving himself in time as a verbal clash starts again. As the officials diffused the situation —  the attacker attempts to run and Maryam’s son, while taking out his phone, shouts, “Be a man, say what you want now!”. Authorities said that injured man belonged to Pakistan.

Over the past few days, protesters have gathered outside the Avenfield House and have been chanting anti-Sharif slogans.

Recently, Sharif and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz, flew off from Heathrow Airport to return to Pakistan. They are expected to land in Lahore around 6 PM today.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had stationed two helicopters to shift both the convicts to the Adiala prison following their arrival in Lahore.
