Kalabagh Dam should be constructed, remarks CJ

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on Wednesday  during the hearing of a case regarding building Kalabagh dam remarked that Kalabagh dam needs to be built.

The three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice heard the case of controversial dam .The ex  chairman WAPDA, Shamsul Mulk gave arguments in favour of building the dam.He said 46 thousand dams have been constructed in the world so far. He further said that  China is producing  30 thousand MegaWatt  from dams solely , while India has successfully constructed 4500 dams.He added that due to lack of dams in Pakistan ,Rupees 196 billion are being lost annually .
