Published on: June 19, 2018 1:33 AM

LARKANA: The market police on Monday claimed to have arrested a thug who fraudulently withdrew cash from ATM machines of several banks in rural areas of Sindh. Reportedly, he had withdrawn a total amount of Rs 12 million.

The Station House Officer (SHO) Sartaj Jagirani informed that the suspect was identified as Anees Abro, a resident of Nim Muhalla of Shikarpur.

He took Rs 2.5 million from various banks in Larkana by cheating and manipulating illiterate people. The SHO claimed that modus operandi of Abro was to shift the ATM cards of those people who were unable to use their ATM cards and operate machines to withdraw cash.

Meanwhile, he confessed that he had been using same trick in many cities including Sukkur, Khairpur, Dadu, Kandhkot and Kashmore.

The police obtained CCTV footages in which he could be clearly seen while changing ATM cards.

Meanwhile, the police lodged a case against him.

He was withdrawing cash from a bank located in Lahore Muhalla where police caught him red handed.

Abro had also confessed that he lost Rs one million in gambling. Meanwhile, the police have started further investigation into the matter.
