National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Director General Shahzad Saleem has taken notice of hundreds of illegal housing societies in Lahore and its adjoining areas. In this connection, the anti-corruption watchdog has arrested accused Malik Sajjad Haider, Public Health Engineering Cooperative Housing Society president, over allegations of misuse of authority and illegal allotment of plots to the blue-eyed persons and for gaining pecuniary advantages from their illegal deeds. “During the course of investigation the accused was found involved in China Cutting.” Earlier, the NAB Lahore had arrested three accused allegedly involved in malpractices in Public Health Engineering Cooperative Housing Society case. The accused include former president Dr Muhammad Shafiq, ex-secretary general Mian Muhammad Aslam and ex- clerk Sheikh Rashid Mehmood. Moreover, the accused were allegedly involved in corrupt practices by cheating public at large and alleged financial embezzlement. According to further details, accused Malik Sajjad Haider had allegedly made illegal allotments without proper approval of management committee’s annual general meeting. It is also pertinent to mention here that accused Malik Sajjad Haider had allegedly embezzled official funds designated for the development work of the members of the cooperative housing society. The anti-graft body had also sought physical remand of the accused from an accountability court. Published in Daily Times, June 15th 2018.
