GUJRANWALA: The Rescue 1122 department on Thursday conducted a four-day training session entitled “community action for disaster response course” to improve skills and ability of their staff. The district emergency officer Umer Ghuman said that the session aims to enhance capabilities of the rescue staff for an immediate response to any mishap or natural disaster. “The objective is to reduce number of civilian casualties as much as possible,” he remarked. The emergency officer Muhammad Fayyaz and rescue safety officer Waqar Ul Hassan delivered lectures to the staff with physical exercises. UC secretary arrested The anti-corruption team on Thursday arrested a secretary of a union council after his bail application was discharged by Lahore Hight Court (LHC). Reportedly, Tahir Manzoor Shah prepared a bogus divorce document to deprive a widow of a police constable of her property rights. The initial investigation confirmed his crime, but he filed a pre-arrest bail plea at LHC. However, the LHC on Thursday discharged the application. Earlier, he also filed a bail application at the Anti-Corruption Court of Gujranwala. Another accused involved in the case namely Aurangzeb has already been arrested.
