Armed assailants gunned down a prayer leader in a suspected sectarian attack in Quetta on Saturday. According to initial reports, unidentified assailants fired gunshots at Maulana Habibullah when he was on his way home after Zuhr prayers in Saryab Road area of the provincial capital. The prayer leader died on the spot. The body was taken to the Civil Hospital. The deceased was the prayer leader at Masjid Bilal and a worker of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP). Later, the body was handed over to the relatives after an autopsy. On April 27, the brother of a prayer leader was targeted on Toghi Road in the city. Sectarian attacks in Quetta had claimed lives of several people, including members of Christian and Hazara community. Published in Daily Times, May 20th 2018.
