HYDERABAD: The University of Sindh (SU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NVTTC) operative under the aegis of Prime Minister’s Youth Development Program (PYDP). A significant new development has been emerged at the varsity, according to Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat. The document states that NVTTC would provide 6-month training to 100 SU students of fine arts, professional photography and textile design. Dr Burfat and director general NVTTC Abdul Rahim Shaikh, representing their respective organisations, signed the MoU. After training, the successful students would be awarded certificates and a monthly stipend of Rs3,000 for the period of six months. The students who would secure three top positions at regional, provincial and national levels would acquire cash rewards of rupees 25000, 20000, 15000 at regional level, 75000, 50000, 30000 at provincial level and 150000, 100000 and 75000 at national level, respectively as an offer of internship incentives by NVTTC. Expressing his gratitude to NVTTC DG Abdul Rahim Shaikh, SU Vice-Chancellor said that SU is one of the oldest and most reputed universities in Pakistan. “SU aims to provide best possible learning opportunities to the youth,” he said. “It is our moral obligation to inspect best educational opportunities for the youths. The training programs aims to make youths self-reliant”, he added. NVTTC- DG Mr Shaikh appreciated the incredible level of cooperation that was received by them in the context of training initiatives. He expressed gratitude to Dr Burfat for his keen interest in the project. He also thanked the training team of institute of art and design which was comprised of Prof Naimatullah Khilji, Prof Saeed Ahmed Mangi and Mr Hussam Mirani.
