SHIKARPUR: At least three suspected bandits were killed on Wednesday in an alleged police encounter in Salaro Marfani, a village located within the kutcha area of Garhi Yasin tehsil of Shikarpur district. According to a report, Muhammad Nawaz, a notorious criminal, who was involved in murdering a Deputy Superintendent of Rangers (DSR) Abdul Jabbar Abbasi and two ranger officers in the year 2015, moved to a suspected hideout in Ghari Yasin, Shikarpur police raided the place. The suspects opened fire on the police officers. The police retaliated and killed Ibrahim, Ali Hyder and Khaman, who were brothers, while arrested Ali Asghar and five other suspects from the place, according to police sources. However, Muhammad Nawaz aka Nawazo Marfani managed to escape from the crime scene. Consequently, the police shifted the bodies of deceased and injured to Taluka Hospital of Ghari Yasin for medico-legal procedures. Later, police detained the injured and put them behind bars. Police claimed that the criminals Ibrahim and Ali Gohar were involved in several crimes including murders, robbery, theft and police encounters. The cases were already registered at Dilawar Marfani and Golo Daro police stations. Furthermore, criminal record of other suspects is being searched from neighbouring districts as well. The Shikarpur senior police officer Masood Ahmed Bangash, via his PRO Nasim Bukhari, confirmed the incident and assured for further investigation into the matter.
