SEHWAN: 11 people lost their lives during the third day of the 766th death anniversary of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar due to intense heat on Monday. According to Sehwan Edhi spokesperson Mairaj Qureshi, 11 bodies were brought to the centre, who had passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Moreover, the Edhi representative said that eight out of the 11 bodies have been handed over to the relatives, while the other three were buried after no identification was found. The deceased are said to have come from Faisalabad, Chichawatni, Multan, Bahawalpur, Samundri, Jhang and Vehari. According to a report, 13-year-old Qasim Ali and 40-year-old wife of Ghaffar died on Sunday from heatstroke. According to an official of Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences, Wasim Ahmed revealed that at least twelve other devotees were hospitalised for treatment at the institute. Moreover, four devotees died on Saturday, three of them were unidentified and their bodies were shifted to Edhi Centre in Sehwan city. However, the identified Mohammad Ashraf was a resident of Faisalabad, whose body was sent to his family. While talking to Daily Times, Edhi Centre In-Charge Ghulam Sarwar said that they fell unconscious as the mercury shot to 50 degree Celsius resulting scorching heat in the region.
