ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH), will establish Indus Bio-Sphere reserve from Chashma Barrage to Sukkur Barrage for preserving the rare species of blind dolphin. “Currently almost 1,500 to 1,800 population of blind dolphins exist in the Indus River, for which modern techniques are being utilised to protect them and raise their growth rate,” PMNH Director General Dr Muhammad Rafique said. The project was initiated at the advent of the current fiscal year by PMNH, an attached department of Ministry of Science & Technology with the collaboration of United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organisation costing an amount of Rs 2.5 million, he informed.
