There have been rumours back in September 2016 that Kriti Sanon will be playing the leading role in Nikkhil Advani’s upcoming production ‘Lucknow Central.’ Ranjit Tiwari will be making his directorial debut with this movie, where Farhan Akhtar will be playing the lead character. The plotline is based on a true story on convicts sentenced to life imprisonment in Lucknow Central jail, that start a band start gain their confidence and pride and find a reason to wake up every morning in the prison. To everyone’s surprise, Diana Penty joined the team, replacing Kriti Sanon, who plays the role of NGO worker, who drags these detainees on the path of music. Diana debuted her career in Bollywood in Homi Adajania’s ‘Cocktail’. When she was questioned that how did she manage to replace Kriti, she dismissed the question stating that it is insignificant to focus on ‘how’. “It all happened within three days of my meeting with Nikkhil and him briefly telling me about the film. His brief immediately piqued my interest and I agreed to meet Ranjit the next day for a complete narration.Once I heard it, I knew this was a story I wanted to be part of, we did a reading the day after and before I knew it, I had landed the role and was shooting for the look test,” Diana explained. ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’ starlet met ‘Rock On’ hero Farhan on the set for the first time. The entire cast team gathered for the reading of the script and communicated with one another. She has admitted to media that one of the reason she agreed for the movie was working with Farhan. “I have always respected him as an actor, director, writer. musician and producer, I have so much to learn from him. He’s one of the reasons I said yes to the project,” she remarked. The movie features Gippy Grewal and Ronit Roy.
