Sir: A significant percentage of Pakistan’s population are smokers. This is despite the information and information the world has on the harmful effects of consuming tobacco. Smoking can cause an assortment of cancers, emphysema and harm to the sensory system. It is assessed that seven percent of worldwide deaths are smoking related. Cigarettes also pollute the environment, since cigarette filters are not bio-degradable. Cigarette filters constitute a substantial portion of the pollution in the planet’s oceans and shorelines. It is my hope that the legislature will prohibit tobacco and all other addictive substances. MARIUM UDDIN Karachi Published in Daily Times, April 25th 2018.
