HYDERABAD: Sindh University (SU) in collaboration with its academic partner Sindh Textbook Board (STBB) organised a serene ceremony at the Varsity’s Syed Panah Ali Shah Model School to distribute free books among poverty-stricken students. The hall of SU was packed to its full capacity and witnessed excited, exuberant and beaming faces of students of class one to ten who awaited for free books. The school principal Dr Farida Shaikh welcomed guests of honour and the audience. She shed light on the importance of books, observing that books provide knowledge and values needed to lead a productive, meaningful, self-profitable and socially- beneficial life. She stressed that books be respected, preserved and loved. Other speakers including Dr Ghulam Ali Buriro, SU director sports Ajved Ahmed Bhatti, STBB deputy secretary Abdul Fahim Noonari paid a rich tribute to SU vice chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat and STBB chairman Aga Sohail Ahmed for their efforts towards uplift of education, educational institutions and students. 5,000 books covering all subject areas were distributed among 800 students.
