LAHORE: The Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) is all set to host ‘3rd International Message of Islam Conference’ on Monday (today) here at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal. Delegates from across Muslim world, scholars and representatives of religious organisations from different Muslim countries have reached Lahore to attend the conference, according to PUC Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi. Talking to media on Sunday at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Ashrafi said that ambassadors of Muslim countries, dignitaries and some 5,000 Ulema from all over Pakistan are attending the conference. “Muslim Ummah should get united and launch joint struggle to annihilate the menace of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism, he said, adding that religious scholars should devise a unanimous and cohesive mechanism to foil conspiracies of terrorists and extremists. He underlined that the conference is being organised to devise a unanimous mechanism against terrorism, extremism, sectarian violence and foreign interference in affairs of Muslim countries. Delegates from more than 12 Muslim countries are visiting Pakistan to attend the conference wherein key decisions will be made regarding ‘Tahafuz-e-Harmain Al-Sharifain’ and to strengthen relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The second session of the conference will be chaired by Religious Affairs secretary of Saudi Arabia. Representatives of Sheikh-ul-Azhar and deputy chief justice of Palestine will readout message of Palestinian president in the conference. Published in Daily Times, April 23rd 2018.
