So far no action against substandard medicines, cold drinks

Published on: April 19, 2018 2:43 AM

SHIKARPUR: Substandard medicines, cold drinks and juices are being sold in Shikarpur while district representatives await a meeting with high authorities to resolve the issue.

A meeting was conducted at Deputy Commissioner Office (DCO) headed by district chairman Agha Mashiuddin Khan Durrani and vice chairman Ameer Ali Kamario.

Durrani said that many complaints were lodged about the substandard medicines risking the lives of people but drug inspectors have not taken any action against the owners of medical stores.

Besides, several ‘illegal’ factories of cold drinks and juices were operating under supervision of influential people.

“Since, no action has been taken against them; a letter from DCO would be dispatched to concerned secretaries to take a stern action,” said Durrani.

Speaking on the occasion, elected district council members including Ghulam Mustafa, Muhammad Anwar Shaikh, Allah Wasayo and Abdul Rasheed also highlighted problems of schools. There is furniture shortage at the schools and teachers are insufficient in the Shikarpur district. They urged that the problems should be resolved as soon as possible.

District chairman assured them that their grievances would be considered properly.
