Princess Kate reveals Prince Louis’ growing interest in Wimbledon role

Published on: July 12, 2026 1:53 PM

Princess Kate offered a rare glimpse into Prince Louis’ interests during her visit to the Wimbledon women’s singles final, where she presented the championship trophy and met members of the court services team. During a conversation with 18-year-old court assistant Jenna Fontanilla, the Princess of Wales shared that her youngest son had been asking questions about becoming a Wimbledon ball boy and wanted to know how much hard work the role requires.

Moreover, the light-hearted conversation highlighted Prince Louis’ growing curiosity about activities beyond royal life and reflected the family’s efforts to encourage his personal interests. Jenna later described the discussion as warm and genuine, saying Princess Kate showed sincere appreciation for the dedication and teamwork required from the ball boys and girls throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, Prince George is preparing for an important new chapter as he is expected to begin boarding school this September while also celebrating his 13th birthday next week. As the future King, this stage is expected to mark the beginning of greater royal responsibilities and a gradual introduction to more public duties alongside his education.

Furthermore, the changes in Prince George’s role are also expected to influence Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as they grow within the royal family. Reports suggest Prince William and Princess Kate remain committed to giving their younger children greater freedom to choose their own futures rather than feeling obligated to become full-time working royals if they prefer different careers.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are believed to be mindful of creating a balanced family environment by treating all three children fairly and supporting their individual ambitions. Their approach reflects a desire to avoid the difficulties often associated with the traditional “spare” role, ensuring each child has the opportunity to develop a unique path while maintaining strong family relationships.
