Salman Khan granted bail after poaching conviction

Published on: April 7, 2018 5:43 PM

The Bollywood actor, Salman Khan has been granted bail by the Jodhpur court in the 1998 Blackbuck Poaching Case. Salman was given bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of 25,000 each after spending two nights in the Jodhpur Central Jail.

Hundreds of Dabang actor’s fans gathered outside the court premises to celebrate the minute news of the bail reached them. Fire crackers were burst and sweets were distributed although the Bishnoi community, which reveres blackbucks, is determined to keep up the pressure. Nonetheless, relief was not just for Salman and his fans but for his family as well. Sisters, Arpita and Alvira have been camping in Jodhpur since Thursday and will now get to take Salman back to Mumbai by Saturday evening.

The 52-year-old actor was sentenced 5 years of jail last Thursday by a district court in Jodhpur of violating the country’s wildlife law 20 years after he reportedly killed two blackbucks during a hunting trip in 1998.He was accompanied by four co-actors, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonal Bendre, who were all shooting the film, ‘Hum Saath Hain’, at the time. The actors were accused of being involved in the hunting trip but were all acquitted.

According to local media reports, Khan is set to leave the Jodhpur Central Jail, , before the end of Saturday
