ISLAMABAD: The Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad police has arrested three persons allegedly involved in the killing of a Chinese woman during a dacoity at her house and also for looting foreigners, said the Inspector General of Police Islamabad Sultan Azam Temuri on Monday. Addressing a press conference also attended by Chinese Embassy Security Officer Peng Yunfei and people from Chinese community, Assistant Inspector General Farrukh Rasheed, Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Najeebur Rehman Bugvi, Superintendent Police Investigation Zubair Ahmad Shaikh, SP Saddar Muhammad Amir Niazi, the IGP said that unidentified persons barged into the house of a Chinese woman on December 29, 2017 residing in the Ramana police area. They took away cash and other valuables from the house and killed her when she resisted. Ramana police station registered the case under section 302/379, he said, adding that the case was transferred to the CIA and a team was constituted under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh to trace the killers. This team included CIA Deputy Superintendent Police Muhammad Ashraf Shah, Assistant Sub Inspector Suleman Shah, Constables Wasim Iqbal, Fahad Amin, Ali Asghar and Shahzad. This police team, the IGP said, scrutinised the criminal record, started investigation into the issue on technical grounds and succeeded to arrest three persons involved in this crime. They have been identified as Syed Tehseen, son of Syed Gul Hussain Shah, Syed Zulqarnain, son of Syed Kamal Hussain Shah and Khurram Ibrahim, son of Ibrahim Satti. He said that police team recovered two pistols, steel hammer, iron rod, veils, cash worth Rs 160,000, two laptops and a mobile phone from them. During the preliminary investigation, Sultan Azam Temuri said these criminals confessed to the murder and looting foreigners that included Chinese nationals. These criminals had been observing the activities of these Chinese people for a while now. Further investigations are underway. The ring leader of this gang Syed Tehseen had visited Germany in 2014 and stayed there illegally. He returned to the country after not getting a visa from there and indulged in criminal activities on his return. Peng Yunfei appreciated the performance and hard work of Islamabad police in tracing the murderers. He also lauded the steps taken by Islamabad police to ensure protection to the Chinese people residing in Islamabad. The IGP of Islamabad has appreciated this performance and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the police. He said that effective steps were being taken to ensure protection to the foreigners residing in Islamabad and their security would be made more effective. Published in Daily Times, March 6th 2018.
